OrGMU hosted the conference "Neurology and Neurosurgery: at the junction of two specialties"

On Saturday, the Interregional Scientific and practical conference "Neurology and Neurosurgery" was held at the Orenburg Regional Clinical Hospital named after V.I. Voynov.: at the junction of two specialties." The event brought together leading specialists from the V.I. Voynov Regional Clinical Hospital, the Federal Center for Brain and Neurotechnology of the FMBA of Russia, the National Medical and Surgical Center named after N. I. Pirogov, the Children's City Clinical Hospital named after Z.A. Bashlyaeva (Moscow), as well as representatives of the regional Ministry of Health, OrGMU and other specialized institutions.

Among the students are practicing neurosurgeons, neurologists and doctors of functional diagnostics of the Orenburg region, as well as clinical residents of the university.

The program of the event included reports on the most relevant areas: the development of functional neurosurgery in the region, the use of high-intensity focused ultrasound, modern strategies for the treatment of Huntington's disease and late drug dyskinesia, surgical and drug approaches to the treatment of various forms of epilepsy. In addition, the participants discussed difficult clinical issues, in particular, the tactics of managing the patient after the first attack and the nuances of diagnosis. Considerable attention has been paid to the treatment of neurovascular conflict of cranial nerves and the role of ENMG. The issue of the need to develop a common terminology and mutual understanding between specialists of different profiles was raised separately.

The audience was particularly interested in the report of Vijay Jafarov, a leading neurosurgeon at the Federal Center for Brain and Neurotechnology, Candidate of Medical Sciences. He spoke about the use of high-intensity focused ultrasound in the treatment of neurological diseases, a promising area that allows minimally invasive interventions and increases the effectiveness of therapy.
