Members of the public discussed the results of the admission campaign for medical and pharmaceutical specialties in the Orenburg region

A round table with the participation of representatives of the Public Chamber of the Orenburg region, the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation and the Public Council under the Ministry of Health of the region was organized on the basis of the OrGMU Scientific and educational center. The reason for the discussion of these issues, as the moderator of the meeting, Vice-rector for Science, Innovation and International Affairs of the OrGMU, Chairman of the Commission on Health and Science of the Civic Chamber of the region, Elena Lutsai, said, was the information noise raised in the media and communications in connection with the shortage of specialists and residents in many medical educational institutions of the country:

- In addition, in August, we and the Orenburg Regional Medical College began receiving questions from concerned specialists about the inability to improve their skills due to the "lack of a license to study." Therefore, today we have gathered all interested representatives here, including the public, in order to dispel all speculation related to medical and pharmaceutical education at OrGMU and Orenburg Regional Medical College in an accessible and understandable way.

- Regarding the admission campaign for 2026, we answer: both our university and the Orenburg Regional Medical College completed this admission campaign with success. All budget places are 100% closed, the target admission has been completed," commented Igor Miroshnichenko, Rector of OrGMU. – Moreover, the position of the government of the Orenburg region, the efforts of Governor Evgeny Aleksandrovich Solntsev and Vice-Governor Larisa Alexandrovna Boyarskaya directly play a major role in the success.

Dmitry Kryazhev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of OrGMU, presented to the audience the successful admission campaign as a strategic vector for the university's development, because it forms a contingent of students, affects the financial model of the university and, ultimately, determines the university's position in the ratings and affects its reputation.  Dmitry Alexandrovich described in detail what measures had been taken to fulfill the objectives of the campaign. The number of applications from applicants for budget places has increased by 18 percent this year, the average competition for a place among them was 12.7.

Maxim Zavertkin, Head of the Quality Management Department of Education, Deputy Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee of the educational institution, told the participants of the round table about the main results of the successful admission campaign at the Orenburg Regional Medical College.

Sergey Perepelkin, Vice Rector for Continuing Medical Education and Regional Health Development at OrGMU, informed his colleagues about key changes and development strategies in the field of continuing professional education.

Who in the region is interested in creating medical classes? Where and how to talk about the profession of a doctor? How can we work with parents of schoolchildren who see their children's future only in the capital, although they complain about the lack of doctors in the region? These and other questions were raised during the discussion by Igor Miroshnichenko, Rector of OrGMU, and Artur Allagulov, Director of the OOMK, Chairman of the Commission on Health and Science of the Civic Chamber of the region, member of the Commission on Education, Upbringing and Protection of Historical Memory of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, and Tatyana Shukurova, Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Health of the region.

Each region has its own peculiarities, so we decided that it would be advisable to submit a proposal to the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation to include in its activity plan for the next year the issue of experience working with applicants from medical educational organizations in the Orenburg region.
